Object of Meet:
To keep this meet simple, for the second year in a row, H-NAV will be on foot. This training event should be a nice and fun course to jump-start your recovery from the holiday binge. If you have any questions about navigation in general, just ask. Help is allowed for all parties prior to the start and between teams during the meet. Payment will not be due until check-in that Saturday, but please email me if you plan to attend so that I can print off enough maps, passports, etc.

Rules:

  • You must sign a waiver before competing.
  • Please, NO pre-scouting the week before the meet.
  • NO outside maps!
  • If you are unfamiliar with topo maps or general navigation, there will be a QA session at 8am on meet day.
  • Boundaries are clearly marked on the map. You must obey them or be disqualified.
  • Safety Briefing (including hazards, safety bearing, etc.) will be provided at pre-race meeting.
  • You can obtain points in any order.
  • Teams of 1 or 2 are allowed.
  • There will be two courses: family and full. If you havent told me which course you would like to do yet, please email me ASAP.
  • You must record your visit to each point by punching your passport in the correct box. Some CPs may not have punches and require you to write down a code of some sort. Bring a pen!
  • The team with all CPs and the fastest time wins.
  • There is no official cutoff time, but everyone is highly encouraged to be back within 5 hours. Please let us know if you abandon the course before you leave for home or if you expect to be out longer than 5 hours.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Top prize includes free entry to the TooCool Lonestar Rogaine 6hr Race!

  • DIRECTIONS:
    - From I-10/I-45 interchange in Houston, take I-45 north for about 32 miles.
    - Take Exit 81 and take FM 1488 West (entrance to cloverleaf is on right)
    - Go about 1.5 miles and take left of Peoples Rd. BE CAREFUL--there is construction on 1488, so the entrance to the road is a bit hidden!
    - Road will curve to right and then to the left. As it straightens out again, look for a sign for the Horse Trailer parking, turn right.
    - Go about half a mile down this dirt road and HQ will be to the right. Turn to the right and park along the side of the dirt road--dont go left as this is where the horse trailers will park.
    - Please try to carpool as parking space is limited.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
