FW: Heading out to Raid the North

Alright, this is it—I’m outta here tomorrow morning and will be starting the Raid the North Extreme on Sunday!

For those who want to follow the race, there should be coverage at:

Our team name is SMAC/HART/AlpineAire-Inferno. I hope to represent HART and Texas well, so wish me luck!

Disarray

Here is the scene of me on my final push to pack for Raid the North Extreme. Yuki is in the background "supervising." At least that's what he tells me. I think I have all the stuff I need except for the snacks...all I need to do now is hopefully pack everything in my gear box and bike case. Wish me luck!

Thanks to Team Dynamic Health

Dynamic Health RacingBefore I forget to give them props as I'm sure I will be in a frenzy in the next several days, I wanted to thank Dynamic Health Racing (i.e., Robyn, Gayla, and Richard) for helping me out this past weekend on ropes technique! I learned a lot and it was a bit of fun too! We rappelled and ascended to my heart's (and body's) content--the Greenbelt was full of water (see pic), which I guess isn't very common at all--we were just barely rappelling onto dry ground!

up, up, up!There has been a lot of news coming out of Prince Rupert regarding the high snow levels and the excessive flooding due to the spring/summer melt. The race director has been scrambling to re-adjust the race course to adapt to these dangerous conditions. They do say they have it under control...:)

Anyway, still have much packing and training to do. I will have the SYW race report up sometime...really.

I AM FREAKING OUT!!!

Okay, I have less than 3 weeks until Raid the North Extreme and it seems that the race director just keeps adding gear to the list!! I really thought that I was done buying all this stuff! Well, at least, through our muddy experience at the Spread Your Wings Race, I decided to learn how to replace my rear derailleur and chain--which might be helpful during this race (but hopefully not needed). I wasn't able to bend back the hanger myself (apparently you need a special tool for that), but as soon as West End did that for me I was in business! Check out the after and after pictures.

AFTER SPREAD YOUR WINGS:

boo!

AFTER REPLACING DERAILLEUR AND CHAIN:

yay!

Now if only I can get all my gear (and my thoughts) together! Help!

Check the Spread Your Wings Video!

SWWEETT! Just wished they showed video of me swimming! Thanks to the kind folks at Camp Eagle--they rock! Make sure to stop over there sometime...they have a lot of fun things to do that's for sure!
